Welcome

Hello everyone. I am a new blogger and this is all very exciting to me! I have started posting some of my paintings from my senior thesis and will soon post my photographs. I have tons of images of my work and it might take some time to upload all of my work. Please be patient as I also will, since I don't fully understand how to use this website to its full extent. Please feel free to contact me about any of my artwork and if you have any suggestions fell free to leave them posted. All and any feedback is always appreciated!

Untitled Womens Series Artist Statement

Throughout my life I have encountered many women that have been abused in various ways. Their stories and battles through these events have shaped my life as well as the art that I make. It has inspired me that these women have seen and experienced traumas and are stronger and even more beautiful at the end of every day. The works on paper that I create are references to the memories, emotions and life long struggle to reclaim their life and their spirit. To be female is a glorious gift as well as a challenge. Having the strength to survive as well as enjoy and empower the gift to reproduce and create life is encouraging. These works on paper translate the fragility, vigor and diverse wisdom that women acquire.

Painting is a meditative process for me, of slowing down, following my intuition, connecting to myself and the women I know. Using acrylics on various papers, a language (dialogue) occurs forming a relationship between the materials, subject and myself. Taking the time to experience and study color and the ways paint flow has allowed me to utilize the materials in a controlling manner. Although pouring paint can be difficult to manipulate, it is freeing to allow the paint and myself to do what the artwork tells me to. Each piece has taken on a life of its own, embracing emotion and stages of healing. There is a parallel between subject, time and the qualities of the paint that allow a sense of calm, rhythmic and even harsh relations between color and shape to occur.

These works narrate the stories of women I have met as well as many other women that face similar struggles and unfortunate events. Every day women grow stronger and even more exquisite, concurring what it is to be female. I dedicate this body of work to all of my loved ones and women every where that live life to the fullest.
